Back to school: September 10, 2018
Fizzing with excitement and smartly dressed in their new school uniforms, the Maison des Anges schoolchildren climb in to their school bus. Today, they’re going to the Collège Verena for the first time. It is a school founded by the Salvation Army, and rebuilt by the organization after the 2010 earthquake. The change of school fulfills one of our long-held desires – to allow the children to have a good basic education. At the old school, the teachers arrived late, the building was half-derelict, and the restroom consisted of a primitive outhouse. The infrastructure at the new school is so good that home manager Gladys was moved to remark that it was the best school she had ever seen in Haiti!
